4/9 Market

One of my favorite things about living in South Korea is the abundance and frequency of the outdoor markets. We quickly learned it was more economical for us to buy most of our produce off-base through the local markets versus buying at the commissary where most of the items are imported and can get pretty pricey. The 4/9 market, like the name suggests occurs on every day that ends in a 4 or a 9, rain or shine. The 4/9 market is so much larger compared to the 3/8 market near Camp Humphreys so it’s worth the 30 minute drive over to Osan.

If you have base access, the easiest way to get to the market is to park at the Songtan walk out gate and make the roughly half a mile walk over to the market. We gambled with finding street parking today nearby and were rewarded (hopefully with no parking tickets later). The market has everything from produce, nuts, fresh seafood, clothing, specialty items, seaweed and so much more!

The strawberries here are sooooo good!

He was the cutest! He saw Leif didn’t have gloves on and ran over with a pair for him

We bought a cutting board from him, this was his pose when I asked to take his photo
